The SCSI network must be used lawfully. All material transmitted, distributed, or stored on the network must conform to all applicable laws and regulations. Material protected by copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights may not be modified without express permission of the owner.  Any material that is obscene, malignant, poses an illegal threat, violates export control laws, or violates generally accepted standards of Internet conduct and usage is prohibited. Falsification of user information provided to SCSI or to other users of the service in connection with use of a SCSI service is also prohibited.

SCSI sternly prohibits the posting of substantially similar messages to more than one newsgroup (this process is also referred to as cross-posting or SPAM).

Sending Unsolicited E-mail messages, including but not limited to, bulk commercial advertising and informational announcements, is explicitly prohibited if such Unsolicited E-mail could reasonably be expected to elicit complaints. Except as otherwise defined under applicable law, "Unsolicited E-mail" does not include any message addressed to an individual with whom the sender has a preexisting and ongoing business or personal relationship, or who is from a non-commercial organization or entity of which the individual is a pre-existing member.

Any violation of systems or network security by a user may result in criminal or civil liability. SCSI will investigate incidents involving such violations, and will co-operate with the police or relevant authorities if any criminal violations are suspected in an effort to end such misuse and violations. Examples of such violations include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Circumvention of user authentication or security of any host, network, or account (also known as "hacking").
  • Unauthorized monitoring of data or traffic on a network without the permission of the owner of the system or network.
  • Unauthorized use of data, systems or networks, in an effort to breach network security measures without the authorization of the owner of the network or system.
  • Forging of TCP-IP packet headers or any part of the header information in an email or newsgroup setting.
  • Interference with service to any user, host, or network including, but not limited to, flooding, mailbombing, deliberate attempts to overload a system and broadcast attacks.

Any breach of said policies, whether indirect or purposeful, shall be regarded as a violation of the policy by the user and treated as such.

Engaging in one or more of these practices may result in termination or suspension of the offenders account and/or access to SCSI services.
